Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic has joined German Bundesliga side Schalke on a four-year deal.
The 21-year-old Serbia international moved to City from Fiorentina in 2012 but was loaned to Schalke in January for the remainder of the season.
Schalke activated a release clause to make the deal permanent.
He played in Tuesday’s Champions League 4-3 victory at Real Madrid that saw the Germans edged out 5-4 on aggregate.
“I am proud and happy to remain at Schalke,” said the 21-year-old, who has not missed a minute of Bundesliga or Champions League action for Schalke since his arrival.
“From day one, I was immediately a part of the team,” enthused Nastasic. “I’d like to help the team achieve our goals in the future.”
