PSV Eindhoven manager Phillip Cocu has finally admitted that it is likely that highly-rated youngster Memphis Depay, will depart at the end of the season. Throughout this season, Depay has been influential for PSV, and has also impressed when called upon for Holland’s international fixtures.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s encounter with FC Twente, PSV boss Cocu suggested defeat in the Depay case, who looks likely to make a move.
Cocu: “I think he’s ready for the next step, and I think he’ll leave. That’s what we’re taking into account anyway.”
Both Manchester Clubs, Liverpool, Tottenham and PSG have all been linked with the young Dutch international. The attacker’s contract runs until 2018, and these clubs may have to bid up to £25m if they gain his signature.
Cocu then went on to bring a bit of a more positive vibe to the media in his conference. He comfortably brought the news that the club and Jetro Willems are nearing an agreement on a new contract.
“We are in the final stages of talks on a contract extension. I hope we are going to come out.”
