Lionel Messi has said that Dani Alves is his best friend in the Barcelona squad.
In a potential push to get Alves a new deal at the Nou Camp, the Argentine has spoken to FourFourTwo about how close the pair are.
Alves is out of contract in the summer and reports have been up and down regarding a new contract for the Brazilian. Some report that Alves’ representatives are helping sort out a new deal whilst others report the complete opposite.
It has also been reported that both parties failed to agree on the length of a contact, hence the stall in talks.
Barcelona are currently banned from making transfers and therefore wouldn’t be able to sign a replacement therefore a new deal for the full-back seems likely.
Messi said: “We all get on very well in the dressing room. I’ve always been close with Dani Alves, since we shared the right wing together when I first broke into the Barcelona first team.
“We’ve spent many years together, both on and off the field. Day-to-day, we’ve got a very strong relationship, which is also of a great help on the field; it means we understand each other’s games very well.”
