Schalke midfielder Marco Höger suffered a Syndesmoseriss on Friday evening in the game against Mainz, and will miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season.
After going for tests in Germany, the player turned to his social media platforms to confirm that he won’t play any more action under Di Matteo this season.
Höger wrote: “The Syndesmoseband caught it, unfortunately I can not help the team this season.”
He has played in 24 of Schalke’s 30 league games this season, and has been at the Bundesliga side since 2011.
Schalke will now undergo a training camp between Monday and Thursday in preparation for the final push in the league this season.
