According to the Telegraph, Xherdan Shaqiri is set to complete his £12m move to Stoke City from Inter Milan in the next 48 hours.
In a major coup for ex-Manchester City boss Mark Hughes, Shaqiri has already passed his medical at the club’s training ground as well as agreeing on a long-term deal.
The Swiss international’s move is set to be announced early this week after finalising the details of his exit from Inter. The Potters are hopeful that they’ll have their ex-Bayern Munich star available for their game on Saturday away to Spurs.
Hughes has been battling all summer to finalise a marquee signing and was close to completing a move for Yehven Konoplyanka before he moved to La Liga.
The fee for Inter’s playmaker Shaqiri was agreed between the two clubs last month, but the Italian club were frustrated when Shaqiri failed to meet a deadline.
However, the deal was successfully revived. The 23-year-old took his medical at Clayton Wood and then watched his imminent new side at the Britannia Stadium as Liverpool came out victorious 0-1
